What is a jockstrap?

Jockstrap underwear is worn by men to support their genitals and protect them from injury. Jockstraps are mostly worn by athletes and sportsmen who engage in dangerous sports. It consists of an elastic waistband and a pouch. There are two extra straps that attach the base, left side, and right side of the pouch at the waistband. Jockstraps are flexible enough to prevent men from straining their groin area. When wearing a jockstrap, the wearer can have more leg movement than one who isn’t wearing one. This makes it ideal for highly active people.

Designs of jockstraps

Men’s jockstrap underwear comes in varying forms and designs depending on the use for which it is made. For example, swimming jockstraps come with a narrower waistband. Hockey jockstraps are worn by hockey players to prevent injury. They have garter clips that hold the adjustable elastic straps in place as the person plays. The pouch has foam padding to keep the player's parts safe from harm. There are windproof jockstraps that are worn by men during winter sports like skiing competitions. They protect the player from the cold winds that characterize the winter seasons. This is achieved by a special layer of fabric that is present in windproof jockstraps and keeps the wearer from getting frostbite.

Jockstrap cups give additional protection to the player in contact sports. Wrestling, boxing, and kickboxing are a few examples of these contact sports. These are the types that are ideal for low-contact sports. Lace jockstraps and mesh jockstraps are more breathable options to be used by people who want to have even more comfort. Female jockstraps are less commonly used, but they are also present in the market today.
