About products and suppliers

Camping cookware is made for camping, hiking and other travel adventure sports. Ideally, they are lightweight, compact, easy to clean and strong enough to withstand inclement weather and outdoor cooking methods. Some come with fold-away or removable handles and many have multifunction parts and attachments. Campers can choose to purchase a full cookset or individual pieces such as a camping pot, camping skillets or camping pans. Full cook sets are great because they nest together and some include cups, plates and silverware. Individual pieces allow the camper to build the set needed for their particular uses.

What are camping cook sets made of?

Camping cooking sets come in a variety of materials. The most popular is aluminum. These camping pots and pans are great conductors of heat and are lightweight and affordable. The cons are that they can break down when exposed to acidic foods and they tend to dent and scratch easily. The popular alternative is hard-anodized aluminum which has the same benefits of aluminum but resists scratches making it a longer-lasting option. Cast iron camp cookware is much stronger than aluminum, but it is also much heavier. While great for casual campers, cast iron camping gear is not recommended for backpackers. The best camping cookware is titanium. It is the lightest option without compromising strength and is highly corrosion-resistant, however, one of the most expensive options.

What is needed in a camping cook set?

Camping cook sets come in a wide range of setups. Buyers should consider the pot sizes available in the set with the largest pot holding approximately one pint per camper. The number of people in your camping party will determine the number of pots needed in the set. Additionally, campers will want to determine if they require a cookset that comes with mugs, plates utensils and reusable napkins.
