Matcha is a fine powdered green tea commonly used in sadou(the tea ceremony).
The young tea leaves for matcha are shaded from the sunlight for a fixed period.
It makes matcha tea more beautiful green color and gives more theanine which causes relaxation without feeling sleepy.
Our matcha powder is also widely used in food, beverages like Matcha-latte, confectionery and cuisine.
The founder Zengoro began cultivating tea in the town of Mikuniminato, facing the Sea of Japan in 1929.
Mikuniminato prospered in the shipping business of Kitamaesen during the Edo period. It deepened exchanges with foreign countries during the Meiji era, and had a bustling exchange of foreign cultures.
In a culture full of such liveliness and intellectual curiosity, “Sangokuya Zengoro” also shifted with the times from a tea farm to a specialty tea shop that handles a wide range of tea from around the world.
Currently, we have about 300 types of tea, including Japanese tea, Black tea, Chinese tea and various original blends.
The underlying factor is the knowledge and experience that only those who have long handled Japanese tea can know.
Because we know with our five senses, the taste that the Japanese people find most delicious, we are not constrained to a production area or a type of tea.
We can choose genuinely delicious tea from Japan and all over the world, and serve it with confidence.
Tea that gently bathes the mind and body across time and borders.
