How the System Operates:

The system operates in the following manner:

  • Parts are placed into the tank using the included stainless steel basket or other holding fixture. 
  • Once submerged, the START button is pressed, and the cover is closed.  The ultrasonic system turns on, and the filter system turns off automatically.  Parts are cleaned with the CROSSFIRE ultrasonic system at this time.
  • The system will automatically turn off upon completion of the cycle. 
  • Operators can then return when the parts are clean. 
  • The cover is opened and the batch of parts is placed onto the basket rest.  Dripping liquids are directed back to the ultrasonic cleaning tank

Powerful Industrial Ultrasonic Cleaner

The largest ultrasonic tanks can include tanks as big as 1,000 gallons or more. These units are meant for applications requiring lower frequencies (25-40 kHz), including larger or heavy duty equipment such as over-sized manufacturing parts, automotive and marine parts and large musical instruments. Units may have multiple built-in stages, including rinse and dry stations, and are sometimes automated.

Q. "How many tanks or process steps will my application require?"
A. The number of process steps required will always be the same; ultrasonic cleaning, rinsing, and drying. If you already have rinsing and drying means, then only a single ultrasonic cleaning tank, such as our table-top systems or single-tank consoles, would be required. If you do not have rinsing and drying means, then a multi-stage cleaning system which includes multiple processing tanks would be required. AGSONIC offers industrial-grade 3-tank systems, precision-grade 4-tank systems, and ultra-clean grade 5 and 6 tank systems. If greater than 6 tanks is required, AGSONIC can custom-manufacture a system with any number of processing tanks.

Q. "Will ultrasonic cleaning damage my parts?"
A. Certain softer metals can be damaged by ultrasonic cleaners. For example, highly-polished aluminum will be visibly damaged after only a few minutes in an ultrasonic cleaner, and items as hard as glass can also be damaged after extended ultrasonic exposure. However, there are processing techniques, such as continuous or intermittent oscillation, which can completely prevent such damage from occurring. This is why AGSONIC recommends that such parts be test cleaned prior to purchasing a system. Test cleaning will give AGSONIC the information it needs to develop a complete process that will prevent damage to the parts

 

Q. Ultrasonic Power MeasureMent –Foil Test

The most reliable measurement device for cavitation is a simple foil test. To perform the test, a piece of aluminum foil is placed vertically in the cleaning bath down to the bottom of the tank spanning opposite corners. Typical immersion time for the foil is 1 min in the bath. Upon inspection of the foil, a pattern of indentations, and possibly holes (depending on the foil thickness, frequency and power density) should occur. In a properly designed ultrasonic tank, the pattern on the foil should be uniform and cover the entire area. This shows that even cavitation is occurring, and, therefore, cleaning should be even and consistent. If the pattern is inconsistent and there are dead zones, then inconsistent cleaning can occur.

Poor foil tests can occur for a variety of reasons: lack of generator frequency sweep; improperly matched ultrasonic generator to transducer load; piezoelectric transducers that have degraded or disbonded; lack of ultrasonic power for a given tank volume; poor transducer layout; or inability of the cleaning solution to properly degas and cavitate.
